In the Third Annual USA Tiger Claw Kung Fu Championship, Tai Chi Push Hands based on rules from Mainland China was added for the first time to the program. The rules and floor layout were professionally designed. The floor mat was a standard 2-inch thick wrestling matt, with a 20 feet by 20 feet Tai Chi Push Hands matt on top. In the middle, there was a 13-foot diameter red circle. At the center of the red circle, there was a 2.6-foot diameter Tai Chi insignia. After weighing in, competitors competed according to their weight classes. The competitors started by saluting the judge panel, the referee, and then each other. The two competitors, one wearing a red belt and the other a black belt, placed their front foot on the Tai Chi Insignia. Once the referee gave the signal to start, the competitors drew 2 circles with their hands and then started to use Tai Chi techniques to attack each other. The competitor gained 1 point if he pushed his opponent out of the red circle, 2 points if he put his opponent down on the matt within the red circle, or 3 points if he put his opponent down on the matt outside the red circle. At the tournament, all competitors put forth their best effort to achieve the best result. The spectators were totally absorbed by the performance of the competitors. The rounds generated champions for each weight class, and finally an overall champion across all weight classes.

Master Wayne Peng, President of the USA Tai Chi Culture Association, had an instrumental role in initiating this event, setting the rules, sponsoring the equipments, and encouraging competitors to participate. Members of the USA Tai Chi Culture Association, under the coaching of Master Wayne Peng, won 9 first places, 5 second places, 2 third places, the overall championship.
